Interesting, but kind of an answer without the question.Cost, complexity, side impact, exit after crash, structural integrity come to mind.
I'm pretty sure I saw this clip - or one very much like it - at least a couple of years ago. I'm not seeing the attraction - I think the engineer in me can't help but think "It's more stuff to go wrong."
The advantage seems to be that the door, when open, is completely out of the way. Also, it doesn't smack into other vehicles.Not saying it outweighs other considerations. Just sayin'.
Perhaps it would help to avoid "wardrobe malfunctions" for actresses when they are getting out of the car at awards ceremonies ?
