I strongly prefer off the back.

No, Fistful.
That's just like paper towel holders that stand up on their side. Illogical and a PITA. Does not tear properly or easily.

Also, paper towels should pull from front too. This is non-negotiable.

Purely anecdotal, but I seem to notice that the front side - back side thing is largley gender based.  The women around here hang it backwards, feeding from the back.  I will turn it around when I find it that way and invariably hang it to feed from the front.  The "leave the last sheet on the roll and the fresh roll on the tank" trick is also gender-based.  I (male) am under no circumstances to leave anyone "stranded" with only a couple of sheets on the roll; the converse is not true.

Front, of course. Anything else is heresy.
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

If that bottom angle pivots so the user gets the delivery from front or rear as they choose, we definitely have a winner!

OK, which one of you got down to the end of the roll and didn't change it?

Front. In fact, at home, if it's hanging off the back I'll take the roll out and re-install it correctly=D

This.  And I'll do it when out, if I can change the roll (non-locking dispenser).

Off the front. And I will correct anyones incorrectly installed roll.

On the ship, anytime someone puts it on wrong there is no way to flip it to the correct position because you have to wait till it is empty to get to the release mechanism.

Had a dog that would do that sometimes.

Over damnit.

TP should always go over the front not under the back. I hate when it goes under .

Neither. Just leave the old empty tube on the holder and set the new roll on it's end on the tank. :P

This. And I've been lazy for so long now that I actually prefer it off the holder.
You wanna talk about easy to get the proper amount without wasting and over spinning quickly, it's easiest to just pick up the damn roll and wind what you need off.

And I would worry about Pearl playing with the rolls (you should see her go to town on a box of kleenex) but she won't go anywhere near the bathroom (and the evil tub) without being forced.

Are we now ready to revise the fold vs. wad discussion?  I maintain it is still too early to again bring out the "how many squares" debate.

I've always strongly preferred the "improper underhand fashion" with toilet paper or paper towel rolls- Makes perfect logical sense to me. When removing a sheet from the rear, the weight/mass of the remaining roll serves to add very slight resistance on the sheets to be removed-- Allowing a trained operator to easily remove sheets one handed, wheras the "overhand" fashion results in a much higher incidence of unwanted roll spinnage when this technique is attempted.

HForrest, that's why I've always put the rolls on with the paper coming from the back. It's easier to tear clean, and there's more control when unrolling it.

What a weird subject to devote all this time to.

But not too early to bring out the ridiculous suggestions:

Fold is more better.

How many sheets is far to speculative and based on brand and general...fluffyness.
