The entire restaurant endured a loud, vituperative, vitriolic, neither-side-is-about-to-budge,  argument over how the new roll was loaded onto the holder.  It could have been deliberate theater, but I saw and heard no signs that it was not a real and ongoing disagreement.

She was furious that the roll fed off the back side.

He said he just installs the new roll however it lands, couldn't care less about front side or back side delivery.

I load'em as I get'em, which means that the orientation is determined randomly by how the new twelve-pack landed on the shelf when brought in from the car.

What say you?  If it matters to you, please show your work.

I prefer it hanging off the front. It's quicker easier to get a hold of it that way than reaching under the roll.

Front. In fact, at home, if it's hanging off the back I'll take the roll out and re-install it correctly!  =D

If I'm thinking about it, I'll put it with the paper coming off the back. That way I can just hit the roll with an upstroke and the paper comes down, and I tear it off.

A friend of mine who's extremely particular would get upset if anyone put the roll on with paper coming off the back. He said that building code required it to come off the front, and whoever wrote the code must know what he/she was doing.

Neither. Just leave the old empty tube on the holder and set the new roll on it's end on the tank. :P

I'm in agreement with cosine, 100%.  I have heard of some families having 2 TP roll holders one front and one back.

With Mason, I can't put TP on the roller. He views it as a personal challenge/affront to his canineness to leave a roll on the roller.

I recall coming across that bit of knowledge a while back. 

Also, I discovered toilet paper holders that are only attached on one side which makes it simpler to manage.

We have a large male Siamese who is a shredding machine, especially at 3 AM.

I used to put fresh rolls on the counter.

Just last week, he figured out to bat it on the floor, and proceed with shredding.

Exactly what my wife does.  Face Palm!

My wife has a rule that the person who takes the last sheet must change it.  Her other rule, is to leave one single sheet clinging to the roll, and another roll on the back of the toilet. 
I load it so it comes from the back -just to irritate her. Although I think it does make sense, because it tears off more easliy when you yank on it...rather than spooling onto the floor.
