We're going to show them how they could have beat us in the WWII....

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Unless they're showing them how to shoot down bombers with nukes I think what you just said is wrong.

And really, would letting Communist China take over Japanese territory be a better option?

We splashed ashore on quite a few islands to get us within bomber range....

(And no, I don't want the PRC to take over....I simply found it ironic what we are now training the Japanese to do...)

I'm thinking this is more of upping their ability (at least on paper, for purposes of intl. brinkmanship) to re-take any islands that might be invaded by the PRC.

Like the currently disputed islands the PRC is sabre rattling over Japan and the Philippines with.
I promise not to duck.

Wouldn't help them any. If we needed to nuke them again for whatever reason, we won't be doing it via bomber, most likely. Submarines don't need islands, and our ICBMs have a pretty good range on them.
