Time for the Mercury prayer?

"Oh God, please don't let me *expletive deleted* up."

For sure.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Just opened the chute. He didn't break Kittinger's free fall time.

Damn. Then again, he was moving about 100mph faster than Kittinger.

Didn't miss it by much and if he knew he would have held out.

It would be neat to see some video from the capsule on its descent.
I wonder where the balloon itself will end up?

Very impressive.  He made it look easy.

The view from the capsule looking down before he jumped really put things into perspective.

Baumgartner almost didn't jump. He suffered from claustraphobia in the pressure suit.

He had to deal with that as well as all the technical aspects. No surprise that he was a bit testy.

Just opened the chute. He didn't break Kittinger's free fall time.

A significant portion of joe k's "free fall" was under a stabilizing drogue, which slowed his descent and lengthened the time.

Did he actually go supersonic? So far, the articles I've seen weren't definitive.

At zero degrees F the speed of sound is 712mph. He topped at least 730 on the way down and from his altitude it would actually get colder a bit before warming back up. Something like -60 if I'm remembering right (which would be 668MPH for mach 1).
