But I did anyway.
A like new Kimber 25th Anniversary Edition for $735. I have one, so that made me feel better, but that is a good price.
I didn't buy the new Ruger Mk III for $340, either, but those are easy to find.

I just scored a NIB, unfired XD9sc for $450, private party, no sales tax, and he included a box of ammo with it. Great deal, IMO.

Good score.
If I wasn't "done" with 1911s, I would have bought that Kimber. That model was made when Kimber still made good guns.

Had a choice once between 2 Ruger #1's in 6mm Rem. IIRC they were about $400 at the time (2003ish). I can't find them in that caliber at all hardly, and when I do asking price in approaching $1000 or more. Still kicking myself for not buying at least one of them.

Once I finish my AR build I'm going to be looking for a few others.
.22 pistol or two
Fullsize .380
maybe
. Or 9mm. Not excited about adding another caliber, but I'd like a 'shooter' in a caliber more than a .22. For teaching and for something to shoot besides my 1911
More 1911's. I'd like another full size and a compact.
Possibly another .22 rilfe or two.

Wouldn't mind a compact shooter, but I think nothing less than 9mm. Gotta finish my AR build first, and get a .22LR for the kids and probably some variety of medium-caliber revolver for the wife, before I can get another toy.
