Geminid Meteor Shower
« on: December 13, 2012, 08:15:56 AM »
The Geminid meteor shower peaks overnight tonight. Already had a bit of a show early this morning. I saw 4 while out driving  on the job overnight. 3 in fairly rapid succession and one a little later. The 4th one lit up the inside of my van and left an after image on my eyes. All 4 of them were green flashes.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Saw one when going out for a late dinner around midnight. Bright and long enough of a streak to catch my attention even though I was looking away about 40 degrees.

I remember seeing the phenomenon that you call "stars" in the before-time. I also dimly recall something called the "moon" and the "sun", but that was long ago.  =(

Or maybe a server room.   =D

Worse; I live in western Oregon.

It's not rain, it's liquid sunshine!  =D

Though I do miss the Willamette valley. I'd much rather have slate gray skies 80% of the time and some actual greenery than this high plains desert I'm trapped in.

I'm the exact opposite. But I grew up in the high plains desert.

Regolith was kind enough to send some of his water-vapor fluffiness over to where we live (CdA), so we, too, have to use our imagination.
