Did I miss a post, or has this not been discussed? I'm old enough to remember when he was playing. "Stan the man" was a legend, even when your team was the Brooklyn Dodgers. A born Hall of Famer, from the days when baseball stars cared what kind of example they set for the youth of America and when a player was indelibly associated with his team, not with how many zeroes there were on his paycheck.

Odd. I haven't heard about this, either, and I'm right in the heart of "Cardinal Nation."

Saw his bust at the state capitol, yesterday.

Baseball lost two icons yesterday.  Earl Weaver also passed away.

RIP Gentlemen, your love of the game will be missed.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
