The savage model 10s usually come with a decent stock built for accuracy, even if they look cheesey.
The ones I know of are the Savage Accustock, Choate tactical and folding sniper (both use aluminum bedding blocks), A McMillan, or a HS Precision stock. Mine has the Choate Tactical, its the most accurate rifle I own, but its also a heavy SOB.

Everyone knows to avoid HS Precision right?

There was the whole Lon Horiuchi endorsement in their marketing materials flap, and when confronted about it, HS Precision just doubled-down on teh stoopid.  :-X

I love my K31, too.  Problem is the danged stripper clip/loader things are made partly from reinforced paper and wear out quick.  And spare box magazines are $$$$.  If you can find them.

I bought my first K-31 when I was poor and started shooting highpower as an 'upgrade' from the beat up old 03a3 that I had been shooting. Spare magazines were non-existant, as were chargers and 7.5x55 brass. I simply ended up buying two rifles from the local Dunham's at $99/ea so that I could have a spare magazine fore reloads.

Yeah, I picked up a spare mag for my Enfield #4 Mk 1 some years ago, $40 was the cheapest I could find one.  I sold the rifle but of course kept the spare mag in case I changed my mind one day.

For the rimmed .303 Brit, I could never figure out how to prevent rimlock when loading from stripper clips.  I used to know a grand old Sergeant Major with the British Army who fought in Cyprus in the late '50s, and I asked him about it.  He shrugged and said they never really had that issue.  I resigned myself to simply using my two carefully-loaded magazines though twenty rounds isn't much in a "pinch."

There is a way to do it.  It's kind of counterintuitive.  I'll see if I can find a writeup.

I've never had the problem.

Is this what you are looking for?

The three "odd-number" (1,3,5) rounds must seat against the metal of the charger. The even-number rounds, 2 and 4, sit on top of the rims of the other three rounds.

Yes, I know it sounds strange, but this is indeed the proper way to load chargers for the .303 service rifles. Take it from one who was trained by the Canadian Army in all things pertaining to the #4 Rifle, and who has owned MANY varied models of the .303 service rifles over many decades.

While searching on Enfield rim lock, I found this, which is kind of cool

Hard to run a lever action from prone.

I'm not prone to lie down when I shoot.

But not-prone is where all the bullets are!

The aforementioned Sergeant Major was able to confirm the correct clip stacking method for me.  I just had trouble trusting whatever mojo caused the rims to line up correctly as they entered the magazine.  But, the entire British Army can't be wrong.  Now I have to see if I can find another #4 that doesn't have a bore that looks like ten miles of bad road.

FTR, a Jungle Carbine in .308 is on my want list.

Those were a Gibbs Rifle modification.  I've read not so good things about the quality of the result.

If they're built on an Ishapore action, they'll do fine.

The Ishapore variants used a different steel and heat treat method to handle the 7.62mm NATO round, and were issued as such.

They're the ones with the squared-off magazine bottoms.  Dunno how plentiful they are anymore, though.

The Jungle Carbines made on the Ishapore 7.62mm NATO actions should have plenty of strength.

There's an ishapore 308 at the local cabelas, they want around $500 for it iirc. ;/
They recently got a bunch of nice milsurps in,must have bought up a collection, all overpriced. The closest one to a price I would consider is a m39 (vkt) for $400, but its condition isn't good enough

:O  Oh, my.  Ain't letting mine go, though.  (I got mine around 2000, for rescuing my then FFL of choice's MS Money file from the mess he habitually made of his computer.  Southern Ohio Gun had them in the flier for a hundred bucks.)
