(I know I misspelled it, that was a joke)
My insulated boots have thick built-up soles with a kind of thin cap glued on for the tread, and the caps are coming off. They are not stitched. I went to Home Depot to find some black rubber cement and couldn't find any. Or anything close. Then as I looked at the heavy duty construction adhesives like PL-400... I remembered how sticky roofing tar is.
I went to the roofing aisle and looked over the half dozen different products they had. I bought a 10 oz tube of Gardner "Leak Stopper" rubberized roof patch. I thought it might work better than just regular asphalt-based patch, especially in the cold.
What say ye? Is it worth a try? I'm sure my wife will go nuts (and not in a good way) about the smell, so I might oughtta wait until tomorrow and glue them in my office at work...
