For me, that image suggests a weapon ready for action, but not in use. This seems appropriate to me in a community founded on responsible firearms ownership and intelligent, civil discourse; it is suitable to those who "get it". Is it the sexiest thing? No. Does the symbolism hit you over the head? No. Is there a better visual to convey the point? Perhaps, but I don't have a suggestion.
