First the Honda 1100 and now the Yamaha 1300

I am very happy to see this segment of the motorcycle market starting to make a comeback. Not every one wants a cruiser, sportbike, or dual purpose. A lot of people just want a basic, no frills, solid , traditional, motorcycle. it looks like both Honda and Yamaha may have seen the light.

Now, if they could figure out a way to bring it to America, all would be good.

I like it. And I agree completely that this segment of the market needs to be rejuvenated.

The four large price step up from the Honda is going to be a little hard to swallow for some, but nice looking bike. I just wish Honda would bring back the Valkyrie.

Those are Australian dollars, not quite as good as US dollars
. But still, I am sure it would be a few thousand more than the Yamaha, if it ever gets here.

Is that different than the old zx? I wish they would bring back the standard inline 4s in the "mid" sizes like 750 and 800. 1300 sounds like scary territory to me.

The XJR line has been around since 1990, so it's hardly news. They have never sold it in either North or South America.

I bet they'll watch the CB1100 sales, and when that one doesn't sell, then they won't bring this one in.

Usenet. Boy, that sure takes me back. Using an accoustic coupler to dial-up at 300 baud. I thought I was living large when I got a 1200 baud internal modem.

I had a Yamaha XS750 at one time. It was a fun bike.

Glad to see some traditional looking bikes are being made again. They were so comfortable to ride for most folks.

Btw, from hanging out at a non-US XJR forum I know that the engine is extremely similar to my FJ, a bunch of parts interchange. You can even fit an XJR head to an FJ engine, except the fin shape is different.
