Thing 1 Excited
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:55:02 PM »
Going to take her deer hunting for the first time in the morning.  She'll just be a tag-along this year.  If all goes well I'll put her in hunter safety so she can actually hunt herself with me next year.  There's Youth only doe tags in the area I like to hunt mule deer, and that usually an every 2 year proposition to draw the tags.

Youth season is this weekend here in Illinois.  Guess who refused to trade weekends so their son could go?

Oh, well.  I plan on getting him out for the regular firearm season.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

There's no "Youth Season" in WA, but there special permit tags on a lottery draw that let them do things like hunt does while the grownups are limited to 3-point (on one side) or better bucks.

Just got back.  No deer (unsurprisingly) but she had a lot of fun and wants to go again.  So, Mission: Accomplished!
