In all honesty, I don't shoot my AK all that much.
However, the SKS is another story. It almost always ends up out on range trips and is my go to for when I just want to shoot a rifle for kicks and giggles.
Dad was told that if he wants to Tapco an SKS, he can buy another one. He is under threat of certain death if he even so much as trys to remove the fixed magazine in favor of the detachable 30 rounders. (which he won't even try anyway, since he's been given the impression that it's something of a PITA to break down.
)
I have a real preferance for wood stocks and rifles that can double as a club/spear when you run out of ammo, but I'm short, with short arms and have trouble with heavy recoil in long guns. I also don't much care for scopes, so, as far as I'm conserned, the SKS was pretty much made for me.
