Took this with my new toy (Canon 70-200 f/2.8L). Would you believe this old fart is well into his 70's?! He still skis at least three days a week, even during the dead of winter.

SWEET PIC!  I really like the way the water catches the sunlight and glows with that lovely late afternoon gold color.  How big is the original?

Very nice. I like the contrast between the color of the spray and the the black (I'll assume underexposed) skier.

Native image was 3072 x 2048 which equates to roughly 11 x 17 at 180 dpi. Image files are usually around 3 Mb.

The original image was actually a regular daylight shot, but the backlit water spray completely overpowered the shot. However, a quick contrast tweak in PShop produced the image above.

Brad,

Great capture! Can you post a larger version? I'd like to see how it looks as a background...say 1024 x 768?

Thanks.

And here's my contribution. Canon 100-400 IS L lens that I picked up a few weeks ago.

Lucky old man. I had to give up water skiing about 10 years ago, a previous spinal injury made it too painful to ski anymore. Sad  Great picture btw.

Sitting on the deck and enjoying a cold one is about the most exciting thing I do around water anymore (besides fishing).

Brad, what shutter speed did you use for that pic?  Sweet shot.

Right outside my college. Pretty amazing to this city boy's eyes. Taken at f11 and 1/500 shutter speed, 400 speed film, with my father's olympus om-1 circa 1972. His present from HIS father for college graduation.

Without looking at the pic data file, I think I was running somewhere around 1/450 @ f/4.0 using ISO 100.

Great photos by all.

Brad, the way you captured that spray is sweet.  The pic brings back good memories of high school and college summers I spent on the lake, skiing when the fish weren't biting and fishing when I was too tired to ski.
