Pathetic on multiple levels

Judge has to dismiss entire jury panel because they all have the vapors about a guy open carrying. That's one level.

On another, this now constitutes "terroristic threatening."

Quote
One employee, physical therapist Bryan Miller, said Ferry “stared down” at him as he passed, and that he “felt threatened” by his demeanor. He “looked determined to get his point across,” Miller testified, according to records.

Quote
Once inside, Ferry confronted a desk employee, glaring at her harshly and making her uncomfortable.

Quote
He suggested that he would return to the club repeatedly “to make life uncomfortable to its members, calling them vulgar names and using obscenities, police said.

Riley said she felt “cornered and just extremely scared for my safety. I could see how angry he was and I just didn’t know how he would react,” she testified at the preliminary hearing.

"OMG, harsh language and glaring! Let's black bag this terrorist to Gitmo asap!!!!"

I think the defendant did some foolish stuff, and a defense like, "the recorder turned on accidentally" is a bit hard to believe. However, this quote from a former LEO prospective juror is a bit disconcerting, as it makes me wonder how many other LEOs have "such strong feelings". Then again he might have just taken a cue from the other jurors on how to get out of jury duty:

Quote
One of the prospective jurors, who said he was a former law enforcement officer, stood and said he had such strong feelings about the presence of firearms in public that he felt he could not do his job as a juror in the case, even though he knew it is legal to carry openly displayed guns.
"I'm a foolish old man that has been drawn into a wild goose chase by a harpy in trousers and a nincompoop."

Well, I'm in favor of single party consent wiretapping laws, and I don't personally believe that a public area should carry any expectation of privacy (although the manager's office probably would). However, if he really does have short term memory problems and uses the recorder to help him with that it's a lot more legit.

But yeah, guy did some stupid stuff. Not a terrorist by any stretch though.

We're turning into England.

No, agreed, definitely not. That "terroristic threat" crap is way out of hand in this country.

We're turning into England.

Yeah, our country is pretty well good and truly *expletive deleted*ed
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Samuel Adams
