I've already emailed Preacherman. I didn't email Oleg, because I don't want to bother him. I like this place, and don't want him to start seeing it as a lot of extra work for him.

And, I offered earlier, I volunteer to mod if need be. Or, lets deputize some other regulars like you suggested.

I've thought that short-term deputization might be a decent idea. Put one or two people who are constantly on here on a specific target and a very short leash for a short period of time to deal with crap like this.

Sort of like the Covenant 'Arbiter'*, but without the inevitable death part. :/

Fistful's around here a lot.

I check this place several times a day, but don't hang around here all the time.

Anyone else besides fistful spend a lot of time here?

I wonder how many different usernames and e-mail aliases this clown is going to post with. In one short thread alone under the Blackbjörn identity he has posted these four e-mail addresses...

heehee@gmail.com

lala@gmail.com

arguingwithmyself@lol.com

imtrollgodlol@trollmail.com

Since my scheduling tends to be highly sporadic I'm here a good bit during the week, but not nights or weekends (I don't have a machine at home, by choice).

Is it possible to set APS up so that new memberships must be approved by a mod?

Okay, now I quit responding to Blackbjörn too. I think we can call him a jackanapes and a scaramouche, but we can't really call him a ninnyhammer. He still needs to get a life.

Good idea. Some of my other boards do that.

Yes... But that would go directly against some of the goals of the board.
Trusted deputies seems to be the way to go.  Has the Ned vote of approval Smiley
Lots of good people on this board whom I would trust for the task.

I've got no reason to think that Blackburn and multiple personality idiot are the same. Probably would help matters if they didn't interact though, hint. Blackburn probably is getting irate emails demanding that he quit something he isn't doing which is why he is back.

fistful is around a lot, and despite his pretences I think we can trust him. Give him the banning stick.

My thoughts exactly.

Still, it would set my mind a ease at little more if Blackburn could explain why his email has a masterpiecearms domain name. (I'm not accusing you of anything, Blackburn, I'm just sincerely wondering.)

I remember once on another board we'd just been hit by gunkid... well, he got banned for the umpteenth time. Then this goofball shows up and starts up followed by one of our good members telling him "boy, it's past your bedtime". This turned into a five page thread and it turns out the guy that told goofball it was past bedtime was the guy behind goofball. Everybody thought that one was funny after it was over though.

Hey fistful, if you really do get a hold of a ban button, you then can really cancel my membership and shut my brain down for failing to groupthink. Tongue

I erase troll accounts and everything they post. Takes me all of about 5 seconds, at most.

Until we change the forum software (and afterwards as well), just ignore them. They crave attention, so deny it to them.

I was just thinking  :uh oh:

Do trolls fit in portable clay throwers...?

Do they toss out like clays, or more like tennis balls from a automatic tennis ball tosser ?

Just wondering...

Q. How far do you lead a troll?

A. Two tads and a smidgen more than a pain in the ass.

I have pretences now?  For what?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, folks, but maybe I should consider that it's either fistful or banning is stupid.  Smiley  That'll keep me from getting the big head.

I will wield the ban stick if asked, but know this.  I WILL use it to shut down cosine's brain.  Evil laughter.

AIM has a pretty good automated troll-killing feature.  Whenever people object to someone, all they have to do is click the "warn" button.  The person that caused the trouble gets a notice to that effect.  After a receiving a certain number of warnings, that person gets booted automatically.

In essence everybody is given a wee little ban stick of their own to use whenever they like.  Nothing happens if f only one person starts swinging his ban stick.  But if everybody starts beating on the bad guy together then he dies an ignominious and contemptible death.

Death by majority opinion.  Groupthink rules!

What would it take to add such a feature to our humble abode?
