The Dreamlands, film adaption of H.P. Lovecraft's Dream Cycle.

I remember seeing a trailer for this at the last H.P. Lovecraft film fest I went to. Looked pretty interesting. Recently rediscovered it and it is looking pretty good. This is by the people who did Die Fabre, film adaption of The Colour Out of Space. Haven't seen that one but I've heard it is pretty good. I have not watched any fan-produced Lovecraft adaptations since 2007's Queerthulu, which was horrifying in a whole different way.

H.P. Lovecraft has a history of mistreatment in the cinema. Films based on his stories have been passable ("Die, Monster, Die!"), mediocre ("Dagon"), and outright terrible ("The Unnamable"), but nothing comes near the abomination of "Cthulhu," which not only desecrates Lovecraft, but film craft.

The Unnamabale was actually really good. It's not necesarrily supposed to be an outright horror though. They showed that one at the last H.P. Lovecraft film fest I was at, if I remember correctly they even had the director and the main character as guest speakers.

They also have what is called The Dark Adventure Radio Theature which is done in the style of old radio programs and those are also really good, picked up the Octopack which has all eight that are currently out. http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/store.lasso I listen to those when I am on a long drive.

I've had in mind, for years, to try to pull together a story combining H. P. Lovecraft's world with S. M. Sterling's Domination of the Draka alternate history.

A decade after the Final War, a young Draka centurion is sent on a mission into the as yet poorly pacified United States east coast.  He, with a squad of serf janissaries, is sent to seek an old family connection.  Not from the old southern confederate states, but further north.  A little coastal town called Innsmouth.  It seems a 19th century ancestor fled, as far away as he could, to the crown colony of Drakia.   Creepiness ensues, dot dot dot.
