I think correct action is to arrest and prosecute persecute the vile dirtbags that posted the illegally obtained pictures.
It is, after all, interfering with a police investigation -- a crime.
There have been numerous cases of just that happening.
I think it was in Illinois that a court ruled that - despite laws to the contrary - it wasn't illegal to photograph a public official engaged in his public duties while out in public.
