If government is the answer, it must have been a really, really, really stupid question.
Talk of forming the State of Jefferson has been going on since 1941: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_%28proposed_Pacific_state%29I doubt anything will come of this. If nothing else, the counties in question receive a large percentage of their funding from Sacramento, and doing without those funds would be . . . challenging.
Oh, I have no doubt that it'll fail miserably. Just an interesting alternative to the secessionists.
My BIL lives in that area and has a "State of Jefferson" sticker on his truck. For him and most of the supporters, it's not a serious proposal but a way to vent their displeasure at the status quo.
Might work!If more States could be formed quickly enough,by conservatives, then Congress-at least the Senate-could become overwhelmingly right minded.A few more Reps would help but a solid majority of Senators wouldn't be a bad thing.I'll start drawing up borders for Allium right away!
Except that those liberal states would need to approve the reduction in their power and tax base. Good luck with that.
My hopes,my dreams!*pop*goes the Balog!
