Californicators tired of being screwed by the nanny .gov are trying to break part of the state off and form a 51st state, Jefferson. Good luck with that guys.

I doubt anything will come of this.  If nothing else, the counties in question receive a large percentage of their funding from Sacramento, and doing without those funds would be . . . challenging.

My BIL lives in that area and has a "State of Jefferson" sticker on his truck.  For him and most of the supporters, it's not a serious proposal but a way to vent their displeasure at the status quo.

Ditto here in Weld and some surrounding counties.  Won't happen, but the publicity woke up some of the county residents who weren't really aware of how much influence the major urban areas had on the rural folks' lives and businesses.

So maybe they'll get their tushies off the porch swings and vote next time around.

If more States could be formed quickly enough,by conservatives,then Congress-at least the Senate-could become overwhelmingly right minded.
A few more Reps would help but a solid majority of Senators wouldn't be a bad thing.
