Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

ALICE training is a big deal lately at my work.  Pushing (but not requiring) people to attend.  A key component is to find something around you that you can use as a weapon.  If it's all the same, I'll use what I brought from home...usually on my right hip.  I understand that for a lot of these trainers, they are told not to recommend carrying a firearm, but can't we be honest?  I'd rather have a gun during a gunfight than try to use my desk chair as an improvised weapon.
No, I'm not mtnbkr.  ;)

Guns are bad Mmmkay.

When a gunman menaced a small Seattle college, a student pepper-sprayed the attacker, ending his rampage. Police say his actions probably saved lives.

When an armed couple who had already killed two police officers entered a Las Vegas Wal-Mart, a shopper with a concealed weapon tried to confront them and got killed. Police say he died "trying to protect others."

Nice cherry picking of examples.

I did an ALICE program last month at work.

Yeah, I have to make do with the Keltec P32 and CTC laser, the Kershaw 4" folder, and the Uzi pen I carry when I'm at places where I have to be unarmed.  =(
I promise not to duck.

An excellent argument for being more trigger happy; in a situation like this, don't confront.  Examine the situation while moving to cover.  After as much assessment as conditions will allow, quietly draw, carefully aim, and drop the gunman with a headshot from behind.

Exactly.  No need to play by the rules.

This.

I hope i'm never in a situation like that. But if i am, i'm going for the stealthy kill from behind.

Agreed.....you can yell "FREEZE" after you shoot them.

In this case it was not the one he confronted that got him. Don't get tunnel vision

I doubt they were completely ignoring each other; in the few seconds to observe and move to cover, there probably would have been some interaction to clue him in to the second one.  Even if not, he would most likely have had the first down and done before he was shot.

My understanding was she was behind and to the side. Plus men tend to not see women as as much a threat as the big guy with the gun out

Good article. Depending on where I am I'm carrying pepper spray, a S&W 649, or both. Running away if you have the option isn't bad advice.

Isn't "Fliedermaus" a bat?    /  Yeah I just checked my German dictionary, a fliedermaus is a bat.
Do you have something against bats?
