Quote
TRACES of sea plankton and other microorganisms have been found on the surface of the International Space Station (ISS), say Russian scientists.

Thankfully, Russian science has an explanation:

Quote
The news agency reported that Mr Solovyev was uncertain "how these microscopic particles could have appeared on the surface of the space station", adding that the organisms were not typical for Baikanour in Kazakhstan, from where the space station lifted off.

"Plankton in these stages of development could be found on the surface of the oceans.

"This is not typical for Baikonur. It means that there are some uplifting air currents which reach the station and settle on its surface," he was quoted as saying.

Mr. Solovyev concluded the press conference by handing out flyers extolling the value of oceanfront property in the Causcuses for which he is a broker.

Plankton in space.  Maybe Star Trek IV had it right after all . . . .

This reminds me of an episode of the old 60s series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea in which the Seaview recovered a space capsule that was infested by some kind of space plant that was apparently made up primarily of green pastic garbage bags strung together which tried to take over the submarine.

I see RoadKing Larry has mentioned the sequel.  [popcorn] ;/

Wasn't that the origin of the Blob in that remake in the 80's or 90's?
