14 Sept. is Clayton Moore's centennial
« on: September 14, 2014, 02:11:10 PM »
He is 100 years old today.

I just heard that on the radio this morning. Curiously, I saw Jay Silverheels in a movie last night.

Hi Ho Silver!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

....

If he's 100 today, why have there been rumors for years that he died?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wj_3curhd0

Quote from: Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clayton_Moore
Clayton Moore (September 14, 1914 – December 28, 1999) was an American actor best known for playing the fictional western character the Lone Ranger from 1949–1951 and 1954–1957 on the television series of the same name.

Methinks he be dead.  Sept 14th IS the centennial of his birth but he's not around to enjoy it.  :'(

You said "he is 100 years old today."  Note present tense.  He'd have to be actually ALIVE to be 100 today. :police: :police: :police:

Thanks for the reminder.

I find it fascinating that we've had six (??) James Bonds, and the films still seem to make it at the box office. But The Lone Ranger? Anything they've tried since Clayton Moore's television Lone Ranger went off the air has been a flop. The most recent effort, with Mr. Pirates of the Caribbean playing Tonto, was a disaster. I saw it on the telly when I was in the hospital -- even having not paid to watch it, I was upset that I had wasted the time.

I kept hoping it would get better. Instead, it just got worse.

Clayton Moore WAS the Lone Ranger.

Call it bad karma for filing a lawsuit against an elderly Clayton Moore to put a halt to his making guest appearances in a mask when they made the first (bad) Lone Ranger movie with some forgettable youngster.

It all depends on what the meaning of "is" is ...

How can he "is" 100 years old when he ... isn't.

I don't think people stop is-ing after death. And in any case, his body is 100 years old, so...
