What I find interesting, and was just reminded of upon filling up this afternoon,is the spread between 87,89,& 91/93 octane.Even when gas was $4+/gallon a few years ago the spread from low to high was twenty cents. It's now $.40.Odd & sneaky.

I just called to get home heating oil delivered for my Mom.

It's down to 2.999 from her supplier in central Pennsylvania.

Heating oil futures dropped over 15 cents a gallon by close of trading today, so that should take some more pressure off in the coming weeks.

Gasoline futures were also down sharply today, and the price here in town is already dropping back 4 to 6 cents.

Here in Fergustan I've been filling up at 3/4 tank for the past few weeks. For one thing, every time the price drops I want to buy gas at the new, low price. Besides that, there is no telling what some imported jihadi is going to do to the infrastructure.

$2.62 here in Hickory, NC.  Dropped again Wednesday.

Saw a couple of $2.399 along I-20 near Weatherford last night.  Of course, still $2.599 most places here.   Trying to decide if I'm going to have any reason to be going back that way after half a tank or more of driving.

Some market watchers are predicting $40/barrel oil. They are banking that Saudia Arabia is trying to flood the market to put the tar sands\shale\fracking producers out of business.

Some are saying that after the first of the year some places might see gas under $2 a gallon.

My wife got some gases for $2.19 in Chesterfield, today. No car wash, no paying in cash, no special deal. Just $2.19.

Paid 2.65 this morning. It's been holding there since I got back from T-giving. I'm hoping that it will start to come down soon.

I saw in the newz that OKC now has $1.99 gas.

Costco was $2.69 yesterday morning, but the line was too ridiculously long for me, so I paid $2.85 at the Valero.

Several different chains in the OKC market in addition to several small mom and pop type stations that compete for business.

2.79-2.88 around here.

2.64 in Gary, IN (But with the discount it's 2.59)

2.61 at my folks house.

I've still got over 3/4 of a tank since just after T-day.  So I should be able to make to Gary with fuel to spare when we head back to Indy before X-mas.   I wonder how low it will be then...

I wish I could tank up like that when I find it cheap.  Maybe somebody should make a gas can or reserve tank specifically shaped and sized for various spare tire wells.  Since the particle board bit that's supposed to cover mine rotted away long ago, I've never bothered wedging the actual tire back in there properly; it's just loose in the trunk with everything else.  That would probably be another 6-8 gallons in a tank sized and shaped to fill the recess and level it out with the trunk floor.  (Full size spare will fit in it fine if I empty the whole trunk and get the remaining bits of the cover out.  I'm just too lazy to do that as long as the trunk closes without too much cussing and bouncing on the lid.)
