This American Life targets the ATF and Border Patrol

I was on the way back from the range today, when I heard this.

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/540/a-front

I had to keep checking the dial. Yes, it really was Ira Glass's Chicago Public Radio program ridiculing the ATF for their undercover storefront operations, and reviewing inland border patrol checkpoint refusenik videos.

APS readers may recall the comedical cut-ups of the ATF trying to run a sting operation in Milwaukee, only to have their guns, and a bunch of other stuff stolen. TAL covers it in hilarious/enraging detail, and touches on another ATF front that was robbed, along with the problems at other locations.

There was also coverage of the Just Say No To Checkpoints videos, but I did not hear all of it. It looks like the audio won't be available from the website, until tomorrow night.

FWIW: I grew up with public radio, and still occasionally tune in. I know they have good programming sometimes, but this one is definitely beyond what's expected.
Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God?

  • But they're SUPPOSED to be "military-style."

Unlikely.
In thy presence is fulness of joy.
