BANNING BACON . . .
« on: February 22, 2015, 01:43:15 PM »
. . . from books.

I've seen this story several places - the Oxford University Press is allegedly banning mention of bacon, pigs, ham, etc. from books they publish. Say that they don't want to offend Moslems. (Some stories say the ban only applies to children's books, as if that makes it OK. Goodbye, Porky Pig, the Three Little Pigs, and Miss Piggy.)

Oh, and Jews, too; they don't want to offend Jews, either. So they're not just bowing down to followers of Islam.  ;/

Here's one link to the story, which has popped up in numerous places on the web - some normally reliable, others, not so much.

Bacon Ban

I want to believe it's a hoax . . . I want to think it was put out by The Onion . . . but if so, a lot of folks have been taken in.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

It's about as believable as anything else in this crackpot age of unreason. I have no doubt they publish a great many things that offend Christians.

It's Oxford University Press.  They're British.

In my book that puts the chances of this being true at a little more than 50%.

Wonder how they'd feel about a short children's story about a little girl and her kitten who live in Rotherham?

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.

It's Oxford University Press.  They're Bwitish.

It's about as believable as anything else in this crackpot age of unreason. I have no doubt they publish a great many things that offend Christians.

The Scofield Reference Bible, for example.

Doesn't the Koran mention pork when it says they can't eat it?  The Old Testament mentions pork for the same reason.  The New Testament menions pigs or swine in at least one instance I can think of.

They know Christians won't kill them.  They are cowards at heart.

Quit trying to be PC.  You want to live in the United States of America you need to assimilate.  Not saying you have to give up your faiths and/or beliefs but you need to quit trying to force them down everyone else's damn throats.  This country is quickly going to hell in a hand basket.  There is a revolution coming, just going to be interesting where the line is drawn.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Meanwhile, at Little Caesar's...

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

You see delicious pizza, I see humongous heartburn.

Other brands don't do that to me.  Looks good though.  Add breakfast bacon.

I'd replace pepperoni (which I don't care for) with hamburger or pork sausage.

Yeah, but it's still good for a bacon thread.
