Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Updating to new forum software.

In progress now -- well, sort of.

Stuff posted between now and the final change might be lost - I'm not sure.  The database in being converted while I type this.

Well, what do you think of the new forum setup?
« Reply #1 on: October 23, 2006, 02:53:22 PM »
It looks pretty cool. I think I'm going to like it a bit better than the older, simpler format.

Edit: Hey, I started a new thread! How did your post get to be first? Angry Wink Grin

Geez, I had almost 700 posts here at APS? I sure didn't think I had that many.

Edit 2: Yep, I like this setup. Two other forums I belong to use this software, it's pretty nice for the end user.

Hmmmm...I dunno.  I think I'll have to test it out for awhile before I decide if I like it or not.  Not that my opinion has any bearing, being a guest in Oleg's house.  Wink

It's a bit busy visually but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Edit to add:  I don't like how it takes you back to the main forum after posting.  I'd rather see it take you back to the thread.

Looks like there's a few different "themes" to choose from to change the look up a bit. You can just change it in your profile. Don't know that I like the built-in smilies in this one... might have to use my own!  Tongue

I was shocked too at how many posts I had amassed here. I've got more posts here than at any other forum I visit. And this was the last place I thought would have the most of my posts.

Guess this new software shows where's home for a lot of us. I'll confess, this is the first forum I usually visit when I get on the web.

It appears he's Joshua Bissey now. I have no idea why his name changed like that.

Cosine,
What do you click on to get avatars etc?  Are the smiley's not working for you either?

 Huh?

Under "Profile," click "Forum Profile Information" on the left side of the page. You get three options there to show an avatar. Mine's hosted off-site, it didn't work when I tried to upload it directly to the forum.

Edit: Smilies aren't working for me either.

Thanks for the info.  I guess I'll wait till my grandson comes over and maybe he can show me what to do walk me through this stuff.  heh.

Working. Quite a few of them disappeared though. And there's no winking smiley, we need a winking smiley!
