It seems the meanings of words change. I always thought "diverse" meant "mixed," or something along that line. Webster defines it as "different from each other;   : made up of people or things that are different from each other; 1:  differing from one another :  unlike <people with diverse interests>;  2:  composed of distinct or unlike elements or qualities <a diverse population>"

When I read that they intend to have a "diverse lead," I thought at first that meant a different star for each episode, or perhaps multiple stars. As I read on, I came to the realization that Merriam-Webster Online is out of date. Apparently "diverse" now means "not white."

Cue Bob Dylan: "The times they are a' changin'."

Perhaps you could expound on the difference between "mixed" and "different from each other"?

The "diverse lead" comment seems not to follow either definition. She's using "diverse" to mean "not white," in the same way people say "urban" when they mean black.
