Well, hell! If you want the nanny state to wrap you up in cotton batting (is that racist?) and protect you from everything, then you need to be willing to accept that there are going to be some times when you will miss out on something.
While I agree that the questions are becoming more oriented towards pop culture than science/humanities and Dead White European Guy History, the point is that the show is "entertainment" for the unwashed masses who want to think they are almost as smart as those nerds who get to compete. Also, the show depends on sponsors and advertising - the sorts of things conspicuously absent from the PBS-presented "brain game" shows.*
