Hoo-wee, the New York Times will really have to extend itself to top the boner and mother-of-all-corrections at the American Journal of Political Science. This is the journal that published a finding much beloved of liberals a few years back that purported to find scientific evidence that conservatives are more likely to exhibit traits associated with psychoticism, such as authoritarianism and tough-mindedness, and that the supposed “authoritarian” personality of conservatives might even have a genetic basis (and therefore be treatable someday?). Settle in with a cup or glass of your favorite beverage, and get ready to enjoy one of the most epic academic face plants ever.

What will people remember, though?

The Law of Primacy says they will remember the wrong one.  The Law of Me says that I will gladly remind them the results were reversed.  >:D

Yup. Drive-by media strike again. They trumpet the story, when it goes their way. When the facts come out, and it no longer furthers their narrative, they've moved on to another story, thank you very much.

In line with my expectations, studies have shown that studies are in line with their expectations.

I love the face-saving gambit that "Oh, but we only intended to show the magnitude of the correlation, and the mere direction of the correlation is immaterial, now that we see the raw data was inadvertently reversed."

BULL MANURE !

Didn't Bellesiles pull some kind of excuse like that out of his ass when they found out what a fraud he was?  Something like "Oh, I was only intending to show that there were fewer guns around in Colonial times than everyone thinks?"

I tells ya true.  Never trust a passionate self-righteous person.

Or "scientist."
