I thought Spain's approach was hilarious: "Joint-sovereignty" -- but, of course, OUR flag will fly.
I hope fGB has the cajones to tell Spain to shove off. Argentina, too -- what's to "discuss" about the Falklands? The Argies lost the war, the people of the Falklands voted something like 99% to remain part of the British (former) Empire, I just don't see what there is to "negotiate."
This is incorrect, sir! The people of the Falklands voted 99
.8% to remain with the UK. Turnout of 91.94%, 99.8% voted to remain a British territory, with only three votes for Argentina. I'm willing to bet those 3 votes were jokes. With Gibraltar, it's not quite as clear cut. The 1967 referendum was 99.6% of voters voted to remain under British sovereignty. 0.4% of Gibraltar wanted to leave the UK vs the 0.2% of Falklands. On sharing sovereignty with Spain (but not giving up the UK) was 187 voted yes (1%) and 17,900 voted no (99%).
99.x% of people can't even agree on the color of the sky, let alone sovereignty issues. If you lose by over 99% of the votes with massive turnout, you had to have done something monumentally stupid.
