I hate the APS "logged in" clock
« on: December 13, 2006, 01:14:56 PM »
Ever since the new forum software was implemented, I've hated the clock that shows the total time logged in.

Why? Because it tells me that I have no life. So far I've been logged in for one day, six hours and six minutes.

I think I'll just post this and then head over to THR. There's no clock there to make me feel guilty. Wink

Please.  I've got nearly five days.  You can permanently minimize that box by clicking the minus sign in the top right.

A lot of my time is time when the computer is left on APS, and I'm busy around the house.  Not that any of you will believe me.

It's not an accurate indication of how much time you've spent using APS.  All it can measure is the time spans between when you load pages on the site.  It assumes that if you load two pages within a span of 15 minutes, that the entire time in between was spent using the site.  If you only load a page once in any 15 minute time span, the site assumes that you spent 15 minutes online for each page you loaded.

The net result is that the clock is a serious over estimation of your time spent here.

OOOhhhhhhhhh...So if you leave the last page open and forget about it and then close later it won't record the time? But if you DO load another page it thinks you've been on all the time you were gone.  Veddy interesding, but STUPID!  laugh

Quick, where's THAT line from?  grin

Uhhhhhhh.....

What clock? Must be something you configured because I ain't go no stinking clock showing how long I been here.

Seriously - I've hunted all over the site and cannot find any clock/counter reporting how long I've been logged in.

Hey Dick!  Over on the far right side is a little button.  Mash the button and the clock goes away.  Problem solved.
