Darwin Denied

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/04/komodo-dragon-attacks-tourist-indonesia/

Tourist wants better pictures of komodo dragons, so he gets up close to them while they were eating.

SHOCKINGLY, one of the massive reptiles attacks him and leaves him with some nasty wounds on his legs. (If you are interested, you can find the pictures. They aren't in this story, thankfully.)

He had to be rushed by boat to a hospital after being saved by the locals.

Nice to see that the US is not alone in tourists with no understanding of how to treat wild animals. (For clarification, this tourist was from Singapore.)
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

You gotta admit, though, extending your vacation while you're waiting for dragon bites to heal makes for a better story than just a multi-day hangover.

IIRC a Komodo's bite can be deadly due to the bacteria that live in their mouths. Takes several days to do ya in but they are patient creatures so I hear.

The dragon has venom glands, which are loaded with toxins that lower blood pressure, cause massive bleeding, prevent clotting and induce shock. Rather than using bacteria as venom, the dragons use, well, venom as venom.
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!
