Happy New Year !!

Thought I would get the ball rolling here and wish all of you the best for the coming year.

I won't be around for a couple few days as I will be out of town so I am a little early with my well wishes.

Be Safe,

Ain't that the truth.

This year:
My grandmother passed away from surgical complications.  She was only supposed to be in the hospital a couple days.
My cousin was killed in a car accident.  She was just out of school, working a job she liked, and planning her wedding for Sept.
My grandfather contracted Bacterial Meningitis and nearly died.  He made a miraculous recovery, regaining nearly all his strength and faculties, but he aged at least 10 years (of course, losing his wife and a granddaughter hasn't helped either).
My parents moved to Mobile, Al.  Instead of being 3.5hrs away and able to see their granddaughter whenever they wanted, they're now 17hrs away.  That's how I grew up (very far from the rest of my family), I was hoping my daughter wouldn't.  Also, at the time my parents were moving, all the events listed above were going on.  It was tough on my dad (was his side of the family).

Other than for The Rabbi who celebrated New Years a couple of months ago, ok to him also,HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I guess I also get to "celebrate" it at least 8 hours ahead of the rest of most of you.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Happy New Year to everyone here and your families.

Chris, sorry to hear about your losses and rough year.  You got a bad one behind you - I think that's at least good for some karma points.  smiley

All in all, I'd have to say I had a pretty good year.

Except the last week, which involved sleeping on the kitchen floor next to my injured dog.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Chris, I'm sorry for all of the bad fortune you had this year. Let's hope 2007 is better for you.

Mike, isn't it possible to have your dog lie in bed with you, rather than you lying on the floor?

Monkey,

No, that would involve getting her up a set of long, Victorian-era stairs that make a sharp right in the middle, then up into a high, single bed. It would NOT be a successful venture.

I will say one other thing...

I know Mtnbkr and his family had a bad year, and I really grieved for them and truly hope their 2007 is much better.

I will also say that from my perspective, having Mtnbrk, his wife, and daughter as friends made my 2006 an exceptionally fine one. I just hope that it was in some small way reciprocal.

It's 2.10am here, and I've decided to go to bed. Happy New Year to you all. I'm remembering TJ and Bill tonight.

I hear ya mtnbkr.  Was a tough year for my wife's side of the family.  They lost 4 of their family members.

Hopefully 2007 will be better than this past year.

I'd like to especially wish a Happy New Year to all of my fellow brothers and sisters in the armed forces.  May you return home safe, enjoy time with family and prosper.

A Happy New Year to all, as well.  I hope for a better year in 07 as 06 was somewhere between slightly sucky and completely C#@py; for most of the year.

Ive been there with the dog and know of what you speak.  A double plateau leveling on broken knees, four large in surgery and a dog that simply wouldnt co-operate with a care schedule.  She did a double back flip to escape the recovery staff and ran down the hall of the vets office to greet us.  The only way to keep here quiet for the first week was sleep on the floor with a hand in the kennel to keep her calm.
