Maryland school shooting
« on: March 20, 2018, 01:06:37 PM »
Put in politics due to my comments at the end.

Shooter dead, two injured after shooting at Great Mills High School in Maryland http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/20/shooting-at-great-mills-high-school-in-maryland-school-confirms.html

The school resource officer killed the shooter. One shot.

This just days after dumbass students walked out in protest of guns in schools.

Stupid punks.

The police are being careful to not say that the officer actually shot the shooter.  The officer shot once.  The shooter may have committed suicide.

In either case, a good school resource officer.

He must have missed the memo about setting up a perimeter first.

Eh, shot by the officer or offed himself once he met resistance. Same effect and effectiveness.

This shooting just proves the gun grabbers' point.  I'm not sure how yet, but you just watch.

No dead bodies to light lanterns over, stopped by a good guy with a gun.  Does not fit narrative.  It will get 2 days of cursory "ANother school shooting" coverage and disappear from the media.

Everytown will count the shooter as a "victim of Gun Violence in Schools".

Just read a report that there was some sort of relationship between the shooter and the female student who was shot.  If that's the case, this may not have been an averted mass shooting but a murder-suicide attempt with the innocent male student as collateral damage.  Not to take anything away from the SRO who was reported to have engaged the threat, but the small number of students hurt and the fact that one appears to have been targeted specifically makes me wonder.

I hope legions of angry italian parents burn up DeBlasio for pulling armed officers out of schools.

Remember it doesn't count as a mass-shooting unless you have at least four killed.

So this won't show up in the stats they use at all, and they'll keep going on about how now one has ever stopped a mass-shooting.

CNN is proudly proclaiming it as the 17th school shooting this year.

I make it the fifth -- plus a university shooting, and a failed high school bombing.

They choose the stats they use depending on the point they want to make. To get to 17 "school shootings" this year, they have to include things like a BB gun that shot out a window of a school bus, a shot that came from off school property and broke a window in a school, and similar events that are NOT the sort of things parents worry about when they think about "school shootings."

Thank goodness the shooter was only using a handgun and not a rifle, otherwise the RO wouldn't of been able to stop him because the rifle's bullets are faster.

And I believe one was a guy committing suicide at a school that was closed, if my vague recollection is correct.
Also, I thought the Florida one was being claimed as "18"? Now I'm reading this is number 17.

Unpossible. The armchair experts assure me there is no such thing as a one-shot stop.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
