Strzok in denial
« on: July 12, 2018, 02:18:16 PM »
FBI agent Peter Strzok appeared before Congress and maintains that his work as an FBI agent was completely unbiased, despite his texts to his former [FBI agent] mistress that they would "stop" Trump from becoming president.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/fbi-agent-never-tainted-political-bias-080213902--politics.html

Quote
"I have the utmost respect for Congress's oversight role, but I truly believe that today's hearing is just another victory notch in Putin's belt and another milestone in our enemies' campaign to tear America apart," Strzok said. "As someone who loves this country and cherishes its ideals, it is profoundly painful to watch and even worse to play a part in."

The dogma lives loudly in this one. IMHO, he is so blinded by his personal prejudices that he can't even see how someone who felt as strongly as he did against Trump and for Hillary could not possibly conduct a fair and impartial investigation. The suggestion of "Russian collusion" pales into insignificance in comparison to the clear evidence of FBI collusion to steer the election to their favored candidate.

Why the hell didn't the chairman of the committee order Strzok taken into custody for contempt when he refused to answer questions? He didn't assert his 5th Amendment right, he said he was told not to answer. He should have been tossed into a cell and told he'd stay there until he DID answer the questions fully.

AND . . . the persons who TOLD him not to answer questions should be charged with conspiracy and obstruction.

Either the committee has the power and authority to compel testimony - or it doesn't. In which case this whole charade is nothing more than political theater and a waste of taxpayer money.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Unfortunately, no.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Many of us realized this when we finally understood that congressional committees are where good investigations go to die.

How many "fire and brimstone" congressional hearings have we been given?
It's great fun to watch and tends to fire up the base.
Not one damn thing has come from any of them, ever.

Bread and circuses.

As far as Strzok is concerned, if he was duly convicted and sentenced to death I could flip the switch, push the button or whatever it is they do today with not even a quiver of conscience.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Many of us realized this when we finally understood that congressional committees are where good investigations go to die.
When they were chairing committees, Darryl Issa and Trey Gowdy both stamped their feet, jumped up and down, and made grave pronouncements . . . with exactly ZERO results. This tradition seems to be continuing.

(By the way, what were the actual consequences of Eric Holder's contempt citation?)
