Country Music and Guns
« on: July 26, 2018, 04:32:53 PM »
Probably time to stop assuming the country music scene is friendly with the firearms scene. Not that everyone should think the same because of their associations, but this isn't the first time I've heard country music artists talk about how they're "gun guys" but anti-NRA and/or anti-firearms freedoms.

The NRA should stop always focusing on booking country music artists as well when they do the annual meeting, etc. Book artists that don't dis your members from whatever musical genres.

If you're blaming guns for Las Vegas, you're not "a gun guy".

*shrug* Depends on the amount of backlash. Country fans have shut down artists in the past when they didn't like someone's politics. Usually the only ones who dare go against what the "mainstream" country music fans consider acceptable are the ones who can get play outside the country music stations.

I honestly had never heard of the guy until I saw the news story. Is some kind of up-and-coming Big New Star or something?

He was in like 2011.

He's one of those interchangeable "beer and pickup truck" country/rock bros.

Like many of the “new country” singers he’s just a dipshit dressed up in overpriced “western” clothes and singing the same “Friday night getting drunk on a dirt road with a whore in the passenger seat of my jacked up truck” as the rest of them. It’s not country, it’s pop

To 1:34.  Standard line-dancing foot-stompin' fare, standard musical progression and modulation, standard story. (Did I miss any standard dawg in the standard pickup?) Standard music video techniques.

Ho-hum.  1:34 and click out.  Thank you !  Next !

Eric Church probably should, and I suspect his producers are telling him to do so today, google "Dixie Chicks".

He at least writes his own songs. Shame about this stance though.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
