Footnotes?
This really stinks. On the one hand, you are perfectly legal and within your right to own a gun and use it to defend your life and family. On the other hand, the cops are within their right to shoot any armed person they encounter when responding to a crime scene?! I guess you’re better off to solve it yourself and not call them until you’re absolutely certain the bad guys are dead and it’s time for mop up. By then you’ll have had time to put your gun away so the heroes don’t kill you when they come to “save you.”
The lesson boys and girls is this: don't greet the responding officers with a gun in your hand.
Doesn't the Aurora police have a history of shooting homeowners and other innocents kind of quickly in confrontational situations? I seem to recall them being in the news before over something very similar.bob
Yes, there have been a couple like that lately, without me digging around to enumerate them. At least to me, and this is not just lately (since I've lived in the Denverish area for almost 50 years), Aurora always had a kind of shady rep. To me. Loyal citizens thereof would probably disagree with me.

How is it a tragedy for the police? They have immunity
Plus at least a couple will get a lengthy, paid vacation.
