Another Great Store Bites the Dust
« on: September 08, 2018, 12:43:31 PM »
Orchard Supply Hardware. It's a mostly CA chain, but from wiki, they apparently expanded to OR and FL as well.

It was a great hardware store, especially for stuff like irrigation and plumbing supplies. If you couldn't find it at the big box stores, you could find it at OSH. Also, all of their staff were very knowledgeable about their departments, so service was excellent as well. And the prices were fairly competitive with the big box stores, even with the extra service.  They also had houseware type stuff, so they really were much like the old timey type of hardware store in theme.

It sounds like things went downhill after Sears bought them, and after Lowes acquired them from Sears I guess they wanted to cut their losses, so bye bye OSH. Bummer.

Oh, that is a bummer!  I had been in their stores in Oregon and was impressed.

No more free OSH calendars.  Too bad.
