I’m enjoying all the complaints about people being forced to accept “messages” on their phone from (insert various lefty names for Trump)! Many seem to actually believe Trump himself will be sending them messages on a regular basis or something and are freaking out.
That said, it’s stupid to call it a Presidential Alert. They should just call it an Emergency Broadcast like it is on TV’s and the Radio. It will be the same as the weather alerts and those amber alerts that show up on cellphones.
Gawd! (Or should I say "Mein Gott!") I'm old enough to remember what every Saturday at Noon there was a test of the emergency broadcast network. My father was in charge of coordinating attack alerts for our county, by virtue of his working for the telephone company and having been a Signal Corps officer in WW2. At Noon on Saturdays, EVERY radio station cut loose with a screeching tone best suited for a low-budget science fiction film, followed by an announcement that said something like, 'This has been a test of the national emergency broadcast system. If this had been an actual emergency, you would have received instructions to tune to a different frequency."
Simultaneous with the radio tones, every firehouse in the county (actually, in the country) cut loose with their sirens or horns or whistles, or whatever each fire department used to announce that they were going to be launching fire trucks imminently. All this cacophony went on unabated for one full, excruciating minute.
And now people are upset because they might get a message on their cell hones?
