New Jeep Gladiator

I know nothing about the quality or capabilities, but I like the retro look. Almost like a civilian Kaiser. :)

I bet that Rubicon in the photo's will be pushing $55k.

It's neat, but for a pick up it's underpowered and small, and for a Jeep, it's big and long.

my fingers are still crossed for a soft top Bronco.

I predict over priced and underwhelming, banking on name and "ohhhh, ahhh" Jeep recognition to make up for short comings.

I’ll bet you’re under.
It’s all wrong. It’s too small to be a pickup. Too long to be a serious Jeep. Wheelbase too long for rockcrawling or serious off-roading.
They should have gone back to a scrambler with 2 doors, kept the same wheelbase as the unlimiteds.
Btw I’m loving my jku rubicon X.

No one will buy it.

They will discontinue it in 3 years.

Then prices will skyrocket as everyone tries to grab one.

I seen't it.

Underpowered? It’s got the 3.6 V6 which is a pretty good engine, used in the current Wranglers and is the V6 option for the full-size Rams and Dodge cars

Off-road? Most jeeps never leave the pavement. Same for most of these probably

It’ll be smallish on the inside like the Wranglers are. Those still sell like crazy. For the person that wants a Jeep pickup without paying for the conversion price they will be liked. Personally I’m sticking with my 1/2 ton pickup but I do like the looks of it

Wheel base is too long to do the Jeep thing.

Wheelbase is too narrow to do the truck/haul thing or be comfortable for truck guys (I went from a Ram 1500 to a Wrangler JKU 3 years ago, it was an adjustment getting used to the restricted space for a 6'2" guy).

That V6 is better than the 4.7L V8 that was in the 2005 Rams, but it still doesn't have the torque to pull the main vehicle + a 5000 pound trailer up a mountain grade at 55mph.

Other than looking kinda like a truck while looking kinda like a jeep, I don't see what good it is.  I'd rather have an old CJ10.  Especially since this Gladiator's bed length is only 5 feet.  It's basically the Chevy Colorado crew cab short bed, shaped like a Wrangler.

I do like the removable top and doors on the Gladiator.  I have often wondered what it would be like to live in an area where you could have the top off or down consistently as you drive about.  Here in the Seattle area, you can only do that June through September and be reasonably assured of little or no rain.

Will it tow my 40ft toy hauler? That's all I want to know, or care about!! ;)

Although I do get the urge for an older J2000/3000 pickup when I see one for sale. You know, the real Gladiator. :)

Maybe.

That's what I liked about the design. Not crazy about the 4 door, but it is reminiscent of the old Gladiators and Dodge Power Wagons too. I wouldn't pay $55K for the name though. It would be cool with a two door or extended cab, 6-6.5' bed, and minimal bells and whistles. Like a kick-around vehicle in the $25K range, which I guess is what driveable if not pristine original Gladiators, Power Wagons, and Kaisers go for.

I'd rather have the Wagoneer it is pulling, LS1 under the hood with a 4L60E transmission. Maybe 3" lift with 31" or 33" tires.

I'll just leave this right here for you all to drool over.

I bought a rick of green oak last weekend from some friends of mine. They stack their wood in a big dump basket and dump with their skid steer loader.
With the bed full of green oak I think the suspension settled about 1/2 an inch. It did smooth out the ride a little on the way back home.

With the M715 I can get far enough away from other people to seriously lessen my exposure to the pathogen.
Plus it is EMP resistant as it still runs a breaker point ignition system.

There was one for sale not far from me in pretty solid condition for $8k. Steel cab and all mechanicals were good but painted faded puke hi viz green from some fire dept. it was tempting.

Jeep has dishonored the Gladiator name. This over-priced pile of excrement should not carry the Gladiator name. It's not a pickup truck -- it's a Wrangler with a small load bed on the back. If anything, it should be called a Scrambler.

In general, the Jeep community is somewhere between underwhelmed, revolted, and disgusted.
