Where Does Everyone Go Sunday Mornings?
« on: November 24, 2019, 08:52:53 AM »
An interesting APS trend:

My usual routine every morning is starting with a cup of coffee and my favorite internet sites. I've started noticing that Sunday mornings, hardly anyone is on APS. As I type this, I'm the only one. Time zones aside, I've been noticing it for a good while now.

It stands out because I used to notice the opposite, especially when the weather starts getting cold. Fall and Winter Sunday mornings, and weekends in general, often had more people on than any other mornings.

So what's everyone doing Sunday mornings now?

I was on around 5am thanks to a sick kid.  Then I left to check out the rest of the internet, but there is nothing out there, so I made breakfast.  Now I'm back because to see what's new.  It is kinda like repeatedly opening the fridge to see if anything has changed or improved.  Nothing has, so I must lower my standards.

At home, usually getting stuff together for home projects, sometimes a quick hunt or a fishing trip. Sometimes I jump on my bicycle and ride a few miles.

In bed of course, I get up at 5am 5 days a week, I am not going to do it on Sat or Sundays unless there is a really compelling reason, which APS isn't (sorry, not sorry). ;)

Getting up at 0530 to get ready for church.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I goto church.  Sometimes I sign-on before I leave in the morning, or if I have my chromebook with me between Sunday school (I'm a kids' teacher) and big church.

^

Over the years I've been watching my time-of-posting graphical data.

When I was working, it was mostly around lunchtime, then after dinnertime, at home.  Ish.

After I retired, I noticed the graph was starting to  flatten out. The "wee hours" (small-numbered clock values) got more popular with me.  I'm kind of a nightowl, and I'm on a sort of ad libitum schedule.  I eat when hungry and sleep when tired.  If you can call that a schedule.

Sundays never were anything special after I was about 16 years old, so I'm just as likely to be on APS as doing other projects. Or sleeping. Or eating.

Being retired, sometimes I actually have to think about it or look up what day it is.  I don't get up till around 8:30AM and spend the next couple hours having coffee and maybe breakfast and generally doing not much of anything.  Showering and getting ready for my 2PM nap takes me from around 10AM till 11AM, when I start thinking about lunch.

^"Being retired, sometimes I actually have to think about it or look up what day it is."

Me, too.  It sounds like senile dementia, but it's really simply not having constant contact with time and day bases.

I love the notion of taking a shower and getting ready for your 2 PM nap.

Frankly, I'd love to have a regular diurnal daylight-based natural schedule like the rest of the world, but as I say, the fact that I'm nocturnal is no-foolin' real and may have some kind of species survival reason.

You know, like sometimes the genetic outlier provides survivability in specific conditions.

I think 'verification of seals' is what the kids are calling it these days.

      Yes, Virginia, seals are real.

Oh, sometimes a Bloody Mary bar too, not very often (once a year tops), but the tavern opens at 6am.
