Cadets, instructor fired for Nazi salute photo
« on: December 30, 2019, 11:09:04 PM »
https://www.dailywire.com/news/gop-gov-approves-firing-of-cadets-after-female-instructor-reportedly-directed-them-to-give-hitler-salute-in-photo-bragged-about-being-hard-ass-like-hitler

This was apparently a class of prison guard trainees (I guess?), and an instructor had them pose for a photo, doing Nazi salutes. State officials fired everyone involved.

Seems like an appropriate response.

Seems to me that the cadets who tried to resist should not have been dismissed. They complied under duress, which is usually grounds for acquittal.

The instructor? Good riddance.

No, I agree with Fistful.  Seems an appropriate response.

Even "under duress" doesn't hold water for me.  He was their instructor, not holding a gun to their heads.  The correct answer would be to tell him no, then go directly to HR, do not pass go, do not collect $200.  Were I being uncharitable I would point out that having folks that can be swayed into stupid decision by threatening their jobs in charge of criminals is probably a bad plan.

I agree with fistful and dogmush.  If you lack the thought process to do that or not see the alternative of telling the instructor to piss off and go to whomever the buck stops at, then you really don’t need to be overseeing criminals.  Also the fact that it was a female instructor is interesting.

I don't know if I'd even go that far. If everybody, except maybe the offending instructor, kept their jobs, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Left-wing moral panic notwithstanding, America doesn't really have a Nazi/white supremacist problem, so the photo is not that big of a problem.

But it still looks really bad to have this going on in your corrections department, so not surprised they decided to clean house. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

That does sound incredibly stupid.

They made a huge deal about a similar picture taken of a graduation class at a local high school a few years ago. Somebody asked the students to raise their hands, a photo was taken, and local media/sjwtards took it as a hitler salute, and the kids were run through the national hate wringer.

I believe the more relevant question is, could idiocy?

My point is if Nazism is a culture then someone embracing true cultural diversity, which the left claims they do and we all know they actually practice selective cultural diversity, would have to accept the "Nazi" Salute as part of a culture and thus acceptable. But I guess the left could then say these guys are guilty of cultural appropriation.

Just throwing the left's hypocrisy back at them

People on the left still embrace both socialism AND communism, and during the 20th century both "cultures" (if you want to call them that) murdered FAR more people than did the nazis.

So if socialism and communism are acceptable . . . why not nazi-ism? (Remember, too, nazis themselves were a subset of socialists.)

I think the punishment was a bit harsh on the cadets.  They were given a stupid order but not an illegal one; they were probably screwed either way at that point.

Could Nazism be considered a culture?

Of course it is.

And all cultures are equal.  My sociology professor assured me of this.

And if you don't agree you are an evil monster.

Whenever my company brought in The Stupid to train or lecture us, I always enjoyed telling the instructors to piss off or embarrass them.  It was always a happy thing to do.
