... it seems:

https://lanthorn.com/73049/sports/inside-the-mind-of-gvsus-newest-offensive-coordinator/

This interview is getting a lot of attention for some reason:

Quote
KV: So you graduated from Drury with a degree in History, you’re a history guy. If you could have dinner with three historical figures, living or dead, who would they be? And I’m ruling out football figures.

MB: This is probably not going to get a good review, but I’m going to say Adolf Hitler. It was obviously very sad and he had bad motives, but the way he was able to lead was second-to-none. How he rallied a group and a following, I want to know how he did that. Bad intentions of course, but you can’t deny he wasn’t a great leader.

And now he's been suspended:
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/college-football-coach-suspended-adolph-hitler-dinner

I think the reason ought to be "gross idiocy". It seems he knew this was a BAD IDEAâ„¢, but he went ahead and said it anyway.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

It would have been totally ok if he answered Stalin or Mao though.

As far as the MSM is concerned Hitler = Orange Man and we can't allow that now can we.

He should have just gone with Pol Pot, nobody would have known who he was talking about. ;)

Sounds like he may not know all that much about Hitler.

Even if you did think Hitler was a good leader, would you really want to meet him?  I can think of other historical figures I would rather meet.  I could come up with a handful from that war.

"You can't be honest in public anymore."

I've often wondered what the individual steps are in the progress "upward" to the point where one can order that people be killed... even the people in one's immediate leadership circle.

Then I think of warm puppies and purry kitties and breakfast.

'Tis a puzzlement.

IF you think Hitler was a good leader, you probably got your thoughts from Star Trek.

Honestly as a History Major, this guy should have had a list longer than his arm of people to meet before getting to Hitler. (If he did have the morbid curiosity to meet him.)

Just because he has the degree doesn't mean he has the knowledge.  His degree might have just been to "check the box" so he could get hired by someone.

I'll cut the guy some slack and assume he wasn't ready for a history question at a football meeting.  Also, he might not be the type of person who is good with names.

Any person in a university environment should know that the only acceptable answer is Che Guevara....

Although, to be honest, I'm actually a bit surprised that this wasn't more acceptable given the strong anti-Israel leanings that exist on many campuses today.

I wouldn't mind meeting Hitler if only for the opportunity to lock him in a room with Stalin and then lose the key.

I don't know why the leftists objected - think about what Hitler was:

Socialist: Check
Vegetarian: Check
Animal lover: Check
Anti-Israeli: Check
Drug User: Check

With important boxes like these checked, you'd think the leftists would be more accepting of his murderously genocidal side. And even there, his body count lagged that of other leftist heroes, Stalin and Mao.

What do you expect, he's an offensive coordinator?  :P

I think it'd be fascinating to meet Hitler and have a candid conversation with him.  Find out how much he believed, versus how much was propaganda.  How much was expediency and how much was fanaticism/passion/dogmatic compulsion.

Of course the same goes for Stalin and Che and Pol Pot and Mao.  Or Pinochet.  Or let's just get savage and find out more about the minds of Hannibal and Genghis Khan.

Hell, I'd love to put Washington on the hot seat over his role in the Revolution, his interests in whiskey distilleries, and his support over taxation of frontier moonshiners.

There are things to be learned from the minds of corrupt, bad, evil people of all stripes. [popcorn]
