Tesla Maybe Leaving California
« on: May 10, 2020, 10:35:16 AM »
I know there's some Elon Musk hate on the forum, but I have to give the guy kudos if he goes through with pulling out. His are some of the few tech companies in CA who are not top heavy with uber liberals (Hi Google!) who put their politics over business. California would be in a world of hurt if more of the big tech companies told them to FO.

^ "Hell, Texas has been telling California to do that for years."

Yeah, so has Colorado, but it didn't work.

Same old story.  Come here for the relaxed politics, and heat it up to the point where soon the do-gooders and schoolmarm types have a traffic light at every intersection.

(Traffic lights per mile has long been a measure of non-freedom.  It's a valid measure for population density to me.)

I hope he doesn't decide on Colorado; we've got enough politically-poisoned people coming in every day.  Besides, any place he'd want to set up a test range would be a fire hazard.

OKLAHOMA—Clever Texans have implemented a new strategy to stop Californians from fleeing their terrible state and ruining Texas with the same policies. Sneaking up to Oklahoma in the middle of the night, brave defenders of the Lone Star State installed "Welcome to Texas" signs atop the "Welcome to Oklahoma" signs surrounding Texas's neighbor.

Oklahomans, annoyed by their new Californian neighbors constantly saying "dude" and "bro," have hatched a plot to move the Welcome to Texas signs to Nebraska.

(Yeah, I know... the BEE)

As long as they don't put those sgns on Oklahoma's panhandle.  I envision creating a corridor from COmmierado to Texas through it so we can create a North Texas and South Texas.

I've just about given up on the idea of making COmmierado into a South Wyoming, but there's still a little hope on that one.

I keep reading this and it always worries me.

But isn't it quite possible that most of the immigrants to the good states who are fleeing the bad states, are actually conservatives?  Maybe it just seems like all the newcomers are socialists because they stand out.

I never saw an actual map of the territory ceded to the United States in the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, but is that map part of it?

Quote
The land that the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo brought into the United States became, between 1850 and 1912, all or part of ten states: California (1850), Nevada (1864), Utah (1896), and Arizona (1912), as well as, depending upon interpretation, the entire state of Texas (1845), which then included part of Kansas (1861); Colorado (1876); Oklahoma (1907); and New Mexico (1912). The area of domain acquired was given by the Federal Interagency Committee as 338,680,960 acres.

I've thought of that business of the "good guys" moving out of California (e.g., Ben) but I suspect the majority is left wingers, judging by the net results of the shift from red to purple to blue among the States.  They say COmmierado has turned from "red" to "purple," but I think that's just propaganda to allay fears.  It's about as blue as I personally don't like.  Seems like most of the local candidates tout concepts like "forward-looking," making "progress," and the like to get elected.

Possible but, IMHO, not "quite" possible. More likely possible but highly improbable. The reason it seems most immigrants from leftist states to free states seem to be socialists is that they're mostly socialists.
