Hopefully no sticky valves that slow down ISS's orbit.  Boeing didn't even enter the competition for ISS deorbit vehicle, it'd be a dick move to poach it.

Yeah but there are some people who just might want to get off first.

Crew 9 with two astronauts and two suits is said to be in the works to launch. Let's see what happens.

What's your source for that?

Crew 9 is currently scheduled for late August

https://www.spacelaunchschedule.com/launch/falcon-9-block-5-crew-9/

https://www.nasa.gov/mission/nasas-spacex-crew-9/

Doubt that has anything to do with a rescue mission since it was already scheduled well in advance but if they suddenly pull 2 or 3 of the crew off then we'll know there's been a change of plans.

Looks like it is Eric Berger, the great war criminal, reporting it.

If NASA decides on the Starliner return and something bad happens, it will be like the Challenger disaster all over again for them.

Crew 9 is scheduled to go up Aug 18 and my guess they're have to make a decision a week or so before then assuming they don't move the date.
But to add a political element to this Elon is now openly supporting Trump and I fear that will color their decision making.

According to Scott Manley NASA needs to clear that docking port for Crew 9 so one way or another they need to do something with Starliner  before C9 launches

If NASA decides on the Starliner return and something bad happens, it will be like the Challenger disaster all over again for them.

There's a thread on reddit with what seems to be a very knowledgeable person using pictures of the Starliner OMS/RCS "doghouse" enclosures to show why Starliner isn't likely to return with crew aboard, and NASA is almost certainly going to bring the crew back on Dragon.  They did piss poor thermal management.  Engine bells that only have radiative cooling are way too close to propellant lines.  Prop temperatures were getting too high, which is the reason the engines were shutting down.  Add to that, the heat is damaging pipe junctures and contributing to more and more helium leaks.

It can't burn enough to do a controlled de-orbit burn and not overheat the system.  De-orbit is even more demanding than the maneuvers already done to arrive at the ISS.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Starliner/comments/1eiggns/boeing_cst100_starliner_crewed_flight_test_cft/#lightbox

My money is on this being the final nail in the Starliner coffin.  It will never fly again, and Boeing is going to have a big black eye for decades over this.

There's a lot of money and egos tied up in this thing coming back.  Asking SpaceX for a ride is something NASA REALLY doesn't want to do.

I wonder what they real (as opposed to what they tell the press) success percentage NASA and Boeing brass are prepared to accept to make this test end "successfully".  80%?  85%?  If they get it down with those guys on board, it's just some hicups that can be fixed with more money.  If Elon brings them home, I bet WLJ is right, Starliner is dead.  Of course if they pull a Cdr. Shepard* in the upper atmosphere, NASA and Boeing will get congressional hearings that make what the USSS went through this month seem calm and friendly.

Wasn't me as I'm taking a wait and see attitude as to what they do with Starliner.

I'm just not ready to write off Starliner just yet despite considering it a colossal waste of money that could of have been spend better elsewhere. One wonders where our space program would be right now if it wasn't for SpX.
