Saying at the rate he's going Elon could become the world's first trillionaire by 2027.
But but I was told that buying Twitter was going to destroy Elon   :O

Does the "degree" of "rightness" count?

Maybe I should join Twitter and make it 45% left and 55% right all by myself.

A judge in Delaware says she doesn't care what the shareholders say

Quote
A Delaware judge ruled on Monday that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is not entitled to receive a multibillion compensation package despite shareholders approving it.

Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick of Delaware's Court of Chancery filed her 101-page decision on Monday. In an X post, Tesla responded to the decision and expressed intent to appeal.

"A Delaware judge just overruled a supermajority of shareholders who own Tesla and who voted twice to pay @elonmusk what he’s worth," the post read. "The court’s decision is wrong, and we’re going to appeal."

Elon Musk's whopping 12-digit Tesla compensation package rejected again by Delaware judge

Wouldn't be surprised if this goes to the SC

I haven't read the judge's decision, but I'll bet a substantial portion of it is legalese that shows her admiration of socialism.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I'd actually prefer that he either by himself or in continued partnerships, do more with phones.

Unless he's thinking of doing some full on Google competition, with his own version of youtube and stuff. No one has yet been able to take that userbase from Google, but if anyone can do it, it's him.

Bill Gates is mostly just sitting on his money.  Elon seems to have multiple businesses that are doing well and pushing boundaries.

I'd like to see him get into phones as well.  A true competitor to the Google and Apple app stores would be nice.

Twitter already provides some video alternative to Youtube, but not enough to replace it.  Just providing a less censored outlet is a plus.

Seems like a loaded sale to me.  Will the servers remain in China?  Will they turn over all the code so it can be run independently?  I sort of doubt it.

I'm not taking it seriously...yet. But I agree there would be lot of sticking points. Highly doubtful if this is remotely true Elon, I would hope, would allow the Chinese any sort of control over the hardware or data.

I just Googled "where are TikTok's servers" and the result was

Quote
TikTok's user data is stored in several locations, including:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: TikTok's primary data storage location for US user data.

US data centers: TikTok's primary data center locations in the United States are in Northern Virginia and Hillsboro, Oregon. These data centers have physical and logical security controls, including gated entry points, firewalls, and intrusion detection technologies.
Singapore data center: TikTok's Singapore data center serves as a backup data storage location for US users.

And this article popped up

TikTok moves U.S. user data to Oracle servers
https://www.reuters.com/technology/tiktok-moves-us-user-data-oracle-servers-2022-06-17/

Now how hard it would be to get Chinese fingers out of it IDK

Again though this story could be a load of hot air

Geographically distributed servers are the norm for large services like this.  Way more efficient to serve from something near the consumer than from across the globe.  That's why Netflix ships Open Connect Appliances to local ISPs so that the most common content can be served directly from the ISP instead of having to bounce from some big Netflix server farm.

The issue has never been where the US servers are hosted, the issue is what level of access the CHICOMs have to it.  And what they can do with the app tracking too.

This is 'merica, we want our spying to be done by big businesses and giant, faceless government agencies.
