Nihilism and mass murder
« on: July 15, 2022, 01:22:24 PM »
I saw this article today, about nihilistic and other anti-life beliefs motivating mass murderers.  This is a topic I have not known about before.  Society is increasingly rejecting God in general, and Christianity in particular, both of which are antidotes to nihilism.

If people believe life is intrinsically worthless, and morals are figments of the imagination, I guess I am not surprised that some chose to kill from this belief.

It is horrifying.

This is fascinating that this article came out; I was over on a Reddit sub and someone brought up Uvalde in context of gun bans, and I threw out that the bigger problem is nihilism and lack of constructivity.  The kid had a drug abusing mother and a father that had bowed out, was a loser in school and had no constructive outlets that reinforced any positivity.  His entire life had been a giant put-down and he knew nothing about how to experience positivity.  Doesn't excuse his actions at all by any means... but the gun didn't do the shooting.  And I got downvoted into oblivion for going into nihilism and moral vacuum as the root cause.

As to those who downvoted you....to quote Ron White the comedian..."You can't fix stupid."

Nihilists have no qualms about urinating on a dude's rug either, I have learned.

Quote

If chance be the Father of all flesh,
Disaster is his rainbow in the sky,
And when you hear
State of Emergency!
Sniper Kills Ten!
Troops on Rampage!
Whites go Looting!
Bomb Blasts School!
It is but the sound of man worshiping his maker.
