Slouching toward Judgment Day
« on: October 19, 2022, 11:42:44 AM »
Oakland P.D. looking to arm robots with shotguns:

https://theintercept.com/2022/10/17/police-robot-gun-oakland/

They don't look like Arnold Schwarzenegger ... yet.

Levity aside, the "robots" are probably remotely operated, not autonomous machines.  Baby steps.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands have deployed NATO's first killer "robots".  No word on whether Ukraine will get any:

So for the next school shooting, the cops will sit around for an hour waiting for the remote gun system to arrive.  (then it won't fit through the door)

Do they make bump stocks for LAW rockets?

Gotta watch that movie again.
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own governors, must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives. A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy or perhaps both"

Related, explosive only.

WWII German "Goliath" tracked mine:

Spool of control wires on its left.

"The Crocodile Schneider Torpille Terrestre[2] (transl. 'Land Torpedo Crocodile Schneider') carried a 40 kg (88 lb) explosive charge and saw limited combat use in June 1916."

What's old is new again.

WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

Yeah, imagine these guys with shotguns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF4DML7FIWk

A cynic might think that the delayed police response was planned to make robot cops palatable. "These guys ain't gonna hesitate about going in."

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Now there's something my mind had totally blocked off from rememberance.

That looks pretty cool.  Something tells me that was a pre-programmed course and not something set up on the fly.  Better than what we saw from robotics 30 years ago.
