I am with Perd.  I have heard of the name, but I don't know if I have ever listened to anything from him. 

I get the impression some people think people on the right are supposed to defend him, but I don't know why.

He’s anything but a hero of the left.  Bully, and scum bag, no argument.  Human trafficking?  That’s alleged, but not (yet) proved. 

He was a champion kickboxer.  After quitting the ring he made his money setting up pornographic webcams, and then running casinos in Romania, likely in collusion with Romanian mafia.  He’s the darling of the “manosphere” and “red-pill” crowd.  He says lots of things that have a lot of old fashioned truth, while also being horribly obnoxious, and saying things like women are the property of her husband.  A lot of young men have taken much of his advice on getting into shape and becoming the “best version of themselves possible”.  He’s managed to get banned from pretty much all social media, though Musk since let him back on Twitter.

That is sort of the thing I try to keep in mind.  This guy has done something to piss off the establishment/left.  He probably is a jerk who has done his share of bad things, but I am not going to believe everything he is accused of just because that is the media storyline.  They have been flat out wrong far too many times.

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been charged in Romania with rape, human trafficking and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.

His brother Tristan and two associates also face charges. All have denied the allegations.

The Tate brothers appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday.

As he left court Andrew Tate said: "I love this country... and I look forward to being found innocent."

The brothers were first arrested at their Bucharest home in December before being moved to house arrest in March.

The indictment deposited with the Bucharest court says that the four defendants formed an organised criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries including the US and the UK.

It names seven alleged victims who it says were recruited by the Tate brothers through false promises of love and marriage.

Looking for an update to see if this went anywhere but I'm not going to spend any time doing so.

Sounds like a left caricature of what the right wants for a hero.

I'm pretty sure Tate isn't guilty of the crimes he's charged with.   I'm also pretty sure he's a terrible role model.  I'm also pretty sure he's a brilliant marketer that has stumbled onto legit grievances among his core audience.

Anytime a group of people are doing/saying something that is not politically correct, the attacks always go at the weak link or the one with the most baggage.  That seems to be Tate.
